A certain aged Nigerian Man is surely setting the standard with regards to the fact that “age is not a barrier to acquiring education” at any stage in life. The happy and excited man identified as Mark Nwagwu took to his personal Facebook page to share a good news with his people, revealing that he has just been offered an admission to pursue his PhD program.
The visibly elicited man who obviously should be seventy years plus equally flaunted his admission letter in the post, just as he got it from the Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan, on Monday July 31, 2023, where he will be doing a PhD program on Cultural and Media Studies, in the 2022/2023 academic calendar.
In his exact words, he wrote “today July 31, I received my letter of admission to PhD studies on Cultural and Media Studies in the Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan in the 2022/2023 academic year. I am excited beyond words. You will be hearing from me. I’m raring to go.”
But many people have wondered why he’s placed in the 2022/2023 academic session, when the program he’s talking about is kicking off this year, 2023. In other words, it should have been 2023/2024 academic year. But did not stop others from seeing the positive side of his newly achieved feat.
As such, the post has continued to generate lots of comments and reactions from people, with majority of them heaping and lavishing praises and congratulations on Mr. Mark Nwagwu.
Meanwhile, the truth remains that there’s no human acquisition or pursuit that can actually be placed above the value and importance of education in human race, and as such, much premium has often been placed on every human pursuits directly or indirectly related to education or the academia.
Well, we join the rest to say a big Congratulations to you sir!
