Former Chelsea coach, Antonio Conte has been fired as Tottenham Hotspurs manager following his recent fall out with both the Spurs players and the club’s management, following his outburst in a post match conference. Though according to BBC Football, Conte’s exit from Spurs is by mutual consent, coming just after sixteen months of his appointment as the club’s head coach.
Meanwhile, the sacking of the Italian might not have come as a surprise to many people, especially following his recent ill fated interview were he came really hard both on the Spurs players and management, including labelling the players as being “selfish” amongst other derogatory comments made by Conte, after the club drew with Southampton during their last game before the current International break.
On the other hand, Antonio Conte’s deputy, Cristian Stellini will step into the vacant position as interim manager till the end of the season, while Spurs former player/midfielder, Ryan Mason will be acting as Stellini’s assistant.
Daniel Levy who has been a controversial Chairman of the London club in reaction to the latest development in the club, made it clear that the main target of the club for the remainder of the season is to ensure the club secures a Champions League spot, with about ten (10) EPL games to go for the current season.
Spurs who are out of all the competitions this season will be in the market to find their fourth permanent head coach from now till the end of the season, since the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino in 2019, precisely about four years ago.
