When they say be mindful of what you utter or do today, as it might come back to hunt you tomorrow, it is no jokes as it is actually a fact and same is what England attacking midfielder, James Madison is currently facing following his tweets of many years ago, as he joins Tottenham Hotspur.
Well, though the new Tottenham Hotspur signing has deleted the tweet, but he has received series of severe bashing and criticism over the said tweets, in which he openly displayed his hatred for the then Spurs playmaker, Gareth Bale, in which he called Bale a monkey and Chimpanzee and that he dislikes Spurs, which is now his new club after a successful £40-£45 million move.
He may have acted wise and fast by deleting the tweet, but some Eagle-eyed persons, especially Spurs fans, were able to uncover the offensive and racist tweets from 2012 and 2013. In the first tweet made on November 17, 2012, Maddison wrote: “I hate Gareth Bale with a passion, calm down you monkey, Wilshere is 10x better than you chimpanzee.”
And the second tweet reads, “hope Luiz Suarez destroys Tottenham today, don’t like Spurs! Especially that monkey that everyone’s on about!”
Meanwhile, Luiz Suarez was still a Liverpool player at that time, and was on the score sheet in his club’s defeat of Spurs on the day the second tweet was actually made.
Meanwhile, investigation revealed that Maddison was a teenager, 15 and 16, when he made the post and was playing for the youth team of Coventry City, and the now deleted tweets surfaced once he was linked to Spurs following Leicester City’s relegation last season.
On the other hand, Gareth Bale was one of Spurs all time leading scorers and best rated footballer, and played for the London football club between 2007 and 2013, making a total of 203 appearances for them, and later moved to Spanish giant, Real Madrid for then world record fee of £85.3m in 2013.
Daily Mail reported that Maddison will earn £170,000-a-week at his new club.
