Crime they say does not pay and it’s just a matter of time before a criminal is apprehended by the long arm of the law. Well, it seems this doesn’t make any sense to Salisu Buhari, one of the escapees from the July 2022 Kuje Correctional Center jailbreak.
Buhari has been arrested by the Nasarawa State Police Command, nearly a year after he was among the inmates that escaped from the famous Kuje Correctional Center jailbreak in July 2022. In a statement released by the Nasarawa State Police Command through its public relations officer, Ramhan Nansel, the said Salisu Buhari was arrested alongside his friend, Zubairu Ali, for allegedly snatching a motorcycle in the state, precisely in Nasarawa LGA.
According to the statement, Buhari was arrested on April 6, 2023 at about 10pm. Further investigation revealed that Buhari and his cohorts are heavily involved in the crime of snatching motorcycles in that very LGA, and that they are behind the many cases of motorcycle snatching in the Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state as well, and its environs.
Further, the statement revealed that following an interrogation of the suspects, Salisu Buhari confessed to being one of the escapees from the July 2022 Kuje jailbreak. He then later had to link up with his partner in crime and they began patronizing crimes once again, and equally terrorizing the aforementioned area.
Meanwhile, the People’s Gazette reported that the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Maiyaki Muhammed-Baba, has ordered that the case be transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department, CID, Lafia, for a thorough investigation to be carried out with regards to this very case.
