It was indeed great and interesting games in the English Premier League today, Saturday, April 8, 2023, with some of the league games already decided. But we have got some important and laudable take away from some of the Saturday games, as some of the players ended up with great individual performances.
ERLING HAALAND
With Manchester City traveling to Southampton in one of the Saturday games, it was Erling Haaland who basically stole the show with both his 29th and 30th EPL goals of the current season, scored during the game.
The Norwegian international netted twice in the game including a breathe taking bicycle kick, which took his goal tally for the season to thirty (30) league goals in just 27 games. He became the quickest player to reach 30 goals with fewer number of games in the history of the English Premier League competition. On the other hand, he has now scored 44 goals in all competitions for Man City this season, as such, equalling the record of most goals by any EPL player in a particular season.
KEVIN DE BRUYNE
Without mincing words, the Belgian international has been an indispensable asset for Manchester City since his arrival at the club some years ago. He has equally continued with his impressive and incredible form since after the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar where his country, Belgium, had a poor and embarrassing outing.
With De Bruyne registering his 100th Premier League assists on Saturday, with his 45th minute assist that produced the opening goal for Man City through the on fire Erling Haaland, he (Kevin) became only the 5th EPL player to reach such an incredible and enviable landmark achievement.
Son Heung-min
Since his arrival at White Hartlane from Bayer Leverkusen in August of 2015, Son has progressed into a world class player, such that he has become an indispensable asset to Spurs. In fact, on several and important occasions, Spurs had often relied on him to save the club from drowning, which he had often perfectly lived up to such expectations.
The good news is that the ever smiling Son has now reached one hundred, 100, English Premier League goals. He equally has dozens of assists to his name as well. Meanwhile, not just being, arguably, one of the very few football’s global super star from Asia, he has equally become the first ever Asian footballer to score 100 EPL goals with his 10th minutes goal against Brighton today, Saturday, April 8, 2023.
Meanwhile, Son did not just achieve this feat on a plater of gold, but with sheer determination, hardwork and dedication towards improving his performances and football career in general. As such, the aforementioned factors have continued to reward the humble and easy going South Korean international.Â
Even at 30, Son has not shown any sign of fading away any time soon. As such, we are sure and eager to see more great exploits and performances from the young man, whose father was equally a professional footballer and has obviously influenced and impacted his son positively and greatly.
