Thirteen years after the death of now legendary Nigerian rapper and music executive, Dagrin, we are once again back to the bitter memories of his death in direct reference to the current state of his mother’s life and living condition, since the unfortunate demise of the rapper/music star in April 2010.
In a video which recently went viral across social media platforms, Dagrin’s mother lamented that since the death of her son, that life has been so hard for her. She revealed that she sell cooked food, popularly known among Nigerians as “mama put” by the roadside, just to earn her daily bread.
Also, she made it known that even at that the money she makes has never been enough to take care of her vital and daily needs. Also, that she couldn’t even hawk the food at certain areas on the ground that some people will recognize her as the mother to the legendary Nigerian rapper.
She equally said that she lacks a decent accommodation, and pleaded with Nigerians to come to her aid, including money for her to set up a reasonable and lucrative business as age is no longer on her side to continue with the food business, which if she stops without making alternative provisions, it will obviously be hellish for her.
Mama when asked why she hasn’t reached out to people like Olamide, Davido, etc, equally revealed that she sees them as her own children, hence why she finds it so difficult running to them for help. Though many people have alleged that it is not even advisable for her to do that, on the ground that these people mentioned should know about her condition and equally do something about it.
Meanwhile, some others have questioned who is controlling all the royalties earned from Dagrin’s songs across several media platforms like Apple, Boomplay, Spotify, Audiomack, etc. As his songs are still being downloaded and played at all these online platforms till date.
They also called out Dagrin’s manager to account for all the royalties earned so far from the late rapper’s songs. On the other hand, many have urged musicians like Olamide, Davido, Wizkid, Naira Marley and others to come to her help, urgently as Dagrin did paved the way for the successes they are currently enjoying.
