More drama have continued to trail the new monetary policy recently introduced by the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele, especially the phasing out of the old Naira notes with the newly redesigned Naira notes.
Many people have continued to lament the nonavailability of the new Naira notes, forcing many people to queue at the various ATM points for hours, while most POS operators charge as high as two thousand Naira (2,000) to withdraw the sum of ten thousand Naira (10,000) only, be it old or new Naira notes.
Meanwhile, one man has been in the center of several attacks directed at the CBN Governor, Emefiele over the new monetary policy, and he’s the former Nigeria Minister of Aviation and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Femi Fani Kayode, FFK as he’s fondly called. He has relentlessly lambasted Emefiele and the CBN for many days now over the new Naira policy, dishing out several unprintable names against the CBN Governor. His anger being that Nigerians have been subjected to untold hardship as a result of the new policy, among several other issues surrounding the new CBN monetary policy.
He went on in his tweet to allege that the CBN Governor is sent by Satan to torment Nigeria. He maintained that the CBN Governor is a be*st, while he also stated that the Satan using the CBN Governor to perpetrate all these crimes Nigerians will soon abandon him, and that’s when the Nigerian people will come for him over the alleged crimes he committed against humanity, according to FFK.
Meanwhile, many people who have reacted to the post equally alleged that the only reason members of the ruling APC have been crying more than the bereaved with regards to this matter, is the fact that the new policy will scuttle lots of trademark electoral malpractices in the country, most especially like vote buying. As such, most of them have continued to tackle those against the new CBN monetary policy under the supervision of Godwin Emefiele.

On the other hand, recall that few days ago, the supreme Court gave an interim injunction stopping both the CBN and the Federal Government from going ahead to enforce the February 10, 2023 deadline for the usage and phasing out of the old Naira notes. The said injunction is pending the determination of the suit instituted by three APC Governors, El Rufai of Kaduna State, Yahaya Bello of Kogi State and Matawalle of Zamfara State, challenging the new CBN monetary policy.
Unfortunately, that interim injunction seems to have little effect as many businesses, organizations, banks, individuals, etc, refused to collect or transact with the old Naira notes yesterday Friday, February 10, 2023.
