Since the inauguration of Peter Mbah as the Governor of Enugu State, several persons, groups and organizations have continued to pay him a courtesy call at the government house.
And among those who visited the new Governor of Enugu State were members of the Enugu State Nollywood, otherwise known as Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Enugu State Chapter, which included veteran actors, Mrs. Patience Ozokwor, Mr. Alex Usifo, and others. And the list of those who visited the new Governor has caused uproar in the state chapter.
Meanwhile, sharing photos from the courtesy visit, Gov. Peter Mbah wrote via his official Facebook page, “Earlier today, some of my friends in Nollywood paid me a visit at Government House, Enugu.”
Further, he added, “I’m happy about the relationship we are about building, especially towards making the creative industry, through partnership with the Nollywood, a dragnet of recreation, leisure and revenue.”
In a swift reaction, the incumbent Chairman of the Enugu State Chapter of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Mr. Brown Ene frowned at the list of those who visited the Governor as representatives/delegates from the Enugu state chapter of Nollywood.
“May i bring to the notice of his Excellency that the people that visited you today are not members of Nollywood Enugu State Chapter, aside Mrs. Patience Ozokwor,” part of his letter to the Governor reads.
He told the governor that about 98% of those who visited him from Nollywood, are not members of the State chapter, of which he singled out Patience Ozokwor as the only person in their midst who’s their member.
He further urged the Governor that hence, he should work directly with the legitimate leadership of the Enugu State Chapter of Nollywood.
“98% of them are not from Enugu and are not Enugu based filmmakers, and we plead on the current government to work with the leadership of @agnenugu Nollywood Enugu State Chapter, maka odimma ndi Enugu,” he added.
Meanwhile, it was totally wrong for the executive chairman of the state chapter of Nollywood not to be part of the delegation who visited the new Governor of the state at the Government House, Lion Building. Under whatever guise they may have visited Gov. Peter Mbah, leaving the Chairman behind is a glaring disrespect to his office and to his person.
In fact, the chairman is even the person who should have been in charge of selecting delegates from the state chapter of Nollywood to visit the new Governor, talk more of embarking on such exercise without the presence and consent of the state chairman.
