Nigerian goal scoring machine and Italian Serie A leading goal scorer, Victor Osimhen and his Napoli teammates suffered a shocking home defeat in the hands of Lazio last night in a Serie A match. Napoli who are top on the league table in Italy went into the game last night in a high spirit, especially considering their envious performances since the beginning of the current season.
The only goal of the match was scored by Lazio’s Matias Vecino in the 67th minute through a perfectly taken shot outside the eighteen yard box, with another Lazio’s player, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic free kick hitting the side bar (woodwork) in an entertaining encounter. Meanwhile, this is Napoli’s second league defeat since the beginning of the season and the only goal of the game is the first goal Napoli has conceded in their last six games. Following Lazio’s victory, they have now moved into the second place on the league table.
Meanwhile, it is not as though the league leaders were completely silent throughout the game, Victor Osimhen who is the league leading goal scorer came close with an equalizer but his header bounced off the crossbar and went out, with Osimhen wrapping his head with both hands, in total disbelief and disappointment.
Despite the loss, Napoli is still at the top of the Serie A league table with 17 points above second placed Lazio.
On the other hand, Napoli has benefited from the prolific goal scoring prowess of Victor Osimhen, as such, the club is aiming to win the league for the first time since 1990 when the club last won it.
